How Does it Work?
We have two methods of connecting you to our network:
- Optical Fibre – Whereby we run a new fibre optic cable to your property and in to a small wall socket.
- Air Fibre – We place a small dish on your rooftop which is cabled back to a small wall socket.
From your new wall socket you can connect either our supplied WIFI router, or your own if you prefer.
Why Can You Provide Fibre to Me, but BT Can’t?
We invest heavily in areas where BT has no immediate plans to improve broadband service through their copper cables. This means that whilst BT will tell you superfast speeds are not available, they are with us!
What Speeds Can I Expect ?
The maximum speed you can buy from us will depend upon the connection type we use, and the size of your community.
- Fibre to the home. Speeds up to 1000 Mb/s
- Air-Fibre. Speeds up to 300 Mb/s
Unlike BT we control speeds, not your distance from their cabinet. This gives you the flexibility to choose a speed to suit your requirements. You can also upgrade this at any time!
Do I need a phone line or cable to get Pine Media?
No. As we operate our network directly to your door there is no need for a phone line, so no more line rental!
Can I Keep My Phone Number?
Yes. If you choose to keep a landline service you can switch it to us for just £10pm (with unlimited calls to landlines). We also have a service with inclusive calls to mobiles.
Can multiple devices be connected at the same time?
Yes. With the use of our supplied WIFI router you can have multiple devices connected to the Internet at the same time.
Is Pine Media as fast as BT Infinity?
Yes! And because our speeds don’t drop with distance from your BT cabinet you will always receive what you pay for.
Do I own the supplied equipment?
This remains the property of Pine Media, a refundable deposit of £50 is required to secure it. If any issues arise with the equipment we will replace without charge (excluding malicious/negligent damage).
What does the installation fee cover?
This covers everything needed to get you online by the time the installer leaves. Including cabling, router and if you are using our wireless network also the antenna.
Is the antenna visible/ugly?
The antenna is much smaller than a typical TV aerial, and can often be mounted on the same pole. N.B This is not required for our fibre-optic network.
